After an amazing two weeks in New Zealand it was time to head to the penultimate destination of my journey, Hawaii. Hawaii has been on my bucket list for 10 years and Helena(Dovey) and we always said it would be the destination for our 40th birthday. So, three flights, 13 hours of flying and crossing the international data line, later I arrived at Honolulu International Airport on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

A quick stop over in Sydney to change flight to Honolulu. You can just about make out the famous bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.

The famous Waikiki Beach at sunset. Palm trees swaying, waves lapping the shore - just what I thought it would be like!

Surf board storage near Waikiki.

Pearl Harbor Memorial and the USS Arizona. On 7th December 1941 the US Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Oahu, was attacked by Japanese forces, drawing the USA deeper into WW2. The bombing killed 2300 people and President Franklin Roosevelt called December 7, 1941, "a date which will live in infamy."

Sunset Beach on the North shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The beach is famous for its big waves and surfing competitions.
